Product Overview
ADAPT-ABI software is for the design and analysis of beams and frames,
either conventionally reinforced or
post-tensioned. Its industry leading features include:
- Simulates the construction sequence of beams and multilevel
frames
- Rigorously accounts for shrinkage, creep, and aging of
concrete
- Handles cast-in-place as well as precast prestressed girders
with or without cast-in-place topping
- Handles multiple tendon profiles of arbitrary shape and
stressing sequence, including pre-stressing and removal of
tendons
- Use of any combination of internal and external tendons
- Determines hyperstatic (secondary) actions automatically
- Provides graphical display of model and results
- Calculates friction and elongation as well as long-term
stress losses
ADAPT-ABI capabilities can be enhanced with the following
modules:
- ADAPT-Gen
- ADAPT-Elongation
Codes
The program comes in ACI, AASHTO, British 5400, IBC (International
Building Code), User defined or other National Codes
Units
The program supports the following units:
- SI
- MKS
- American Customary
Hardware Requirements
- PC compatible computer
- Windows operating system
- Minimum of 128 MB RAM
- 10 GB hard drive
Product Details
ADAPT-ABI is a general finite element program which performs
time-dependent analysis of concrete frames for buildings or
bridges during and after the construction phase. ABI can
investigate the effect of newly placed concrete, creep, shrinkage,
and relaxation in prestressing over time, aging of concrete, and
variation in
temperature. Its excellent graphical interface can
display moments, shears, stresses, and deformations for various
stages of construction. The software can handle nonprestressed
concrete, precast, cast-in-place, pre-tensioned or post-tensioned
frames. The software also handles composite construction. The
basic module of the software (ADAPT-ABI Basic) is self-contained
and complete. Other modules enhance the capabilities of the basic
program.
These are:
ADAPT-Gen Module
ADAPT-Gen enables the user to (i) break the structure into spans
and columns; (ii) display and tabulate the solution in a
span-and-column format; (iii) include automatic pattern loading;
and (iv) combine different loading conditions and compile
envelopes of load cases. Other features are directed toward making
the software an effective production tool.
ADAPT- Elongation Module (includes
friction and stress loss)
At the completion of an ADAPT-ABI computer run, and without any
additional input data, this module calculates the elongation of
each of the tendons at stressing and the associated stress losses.
The stress losses include the effects of friction and the
time-dependent parameters of creep, shrinkage, and relaxation in
prestressing.
